Donna Collier-Turner is a
seventh grade science teacher at Southwestern Junior High School in the public school
system of Battle Creek, Michigan.l
Ms. Collier-Turner is a native of Hannibal,
Missouri, and she attended Northeast Missouri State University (now known as Harry Truman
University), majoring in vocal music, drama and speech.
After moving to Battle Creek in the 1980s, she
attended Kellogg Community College and graduated from Western Michigan University with a
degree in elementary education. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in
Educational Leadership.
Donna has done extensive research on the life
of Sojourner Truth and is a resident re-enactor for the Sojourner Truth Institute of
Battle Creek. In that capacity, she frequently appears at public events, including the
September 1998 unveiling of the maquette of the Sojourner truth Monument.
Currently she is writing choral readings and
drama vignettes to be used in area schools and at the dedication of the monument planned
for September 1999. |
