Susan Miller is a third grade teacher at Minges Brook School in the Lakeview School district in Battle Creek, Michigan.

She was born in Charlotte, Michigan and has lived in Battle Creek for five years. Susan is a graduate of Western Michigan University, where she received her bachelor's degree (magna cum laude) in elementary education in 1994 and her master's degree in 1998. Her special interests in teaching are in social science, mathematics and science.

For three years, Susan worked as a tour guide at the Celery Flats Interpretative Center in Portage, Michigan. It was this experience which piqued her interest in history.

The chance to work with the Sojourner Truth Institute provided another opportunity to learn about local history and to take that knowledge into her classroom.
