THEA ROZETTA LAPHAM is a veteran journalist, suffrage historian and special event planner. In 1997, she served as chair of the first Battle Creek National Women's Conference, the culmination of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Sojourner Truth. A lifelong resident of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Lapham received her Bachelor degree in journalism from Western Michigan University. In 1996 she traveled throughout the state of New York, researching the lives of Susan B. Anthony, Frederick Douglass, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Amelia Bloomer, Harriet Tubman and Sojourner Truth. A graphic novel on the life of Sojourner Truth, based on her research, is planned for publication.
