Mary G. Butler
MARY
G. BUTLER, archivist and editor of publications of the Historical Society of Battle
Creek, was trained as an architectural historian. She graduated with honors from
Swarthmore College and received her M.A. in Early American Culture from Winterthur Museum
and the University of Delaware. Butler served as Executive Director of the Baltimore,
Maryland, Commission for Historical and Architectural Preservation and as Assistant
Director of the Territorial Restoration in Little Rock, Arkansas. After coming to Battle
Creek in 1978, she worked as historical consultant to the Historic District Commission and
Neighborhoods, Inc. She joined the staff of the Historical Society of Battle Creek in
1994.
