Frances Thornton

Frances_Thornton.jpg (7623 bytes)Frances Thornton was born in Ann Arbor and came to Battle Creek at the age of three weeks. Brought up with a love of Battle Creek history, she graduated from Battle Creek Central High School and attended Kellogg Community College. She has acted as historian for a wide variety of organizations, including First United Methodist Church, Historic District Commission, Mill Race Advisory Committee, Fort Custer Video Committee, Calhoun County Heritage Council and the Adventist Historical Society. Thornton was chairwoman of the 100th Birthday Celebration of the Michigan Central Railroad Depot in 1988. In addition to actively working in the Historical Society archives, she was one of the authors of the Gold-In-Flakes series published by Heritage Publications.
